Art Basel was crazy this year. If you have never been its definitely something to experience. Even if art isnt your thing, there is more than enough parties and other things going on to keep you busy the entire time.

This year Leica loaned me a M240 MP with a 24mm 1.4 Summilux to try out. I used this in combination with my M6 and 50mm Summilux. I tried to use the M240 as much as I possibly could and figured out all its quirks on the fly. I figured Id better get the most out of before I have to return it, so the M6 didn't see much use.

Please keep in mind I am not a reviewer of any kind. These are just few of my thoughts on the camera.

Im used to my Sony doing the heavy lifting so it took a little more attention to get used to all the buttons and settings. I used classic metering only and was having a little bit of a time getting used to the way it was metering as compared to my Sony. Luckily you can set the thumb wheel on the back to do exposure comp. This ended up saving me a lot in back lit situations.

One thing is for sure. The colors it puts out are amazing in my option. A lot better than the Sony's. Even the jpg's right out of the camera are near perfect for my taste for both black and white and color. The files do lack the dynamic range of the Sony's so getting it right in the camera is the way to go, instead of fixing it later.

Although its a lot more difficult to get shots than it would be with the Sony give the more manual setup (especially since my style in a lot more candid), it is more than worth it to me. My style also leans towards the moody side, so the lower dynamic range actually helps for what I like. The M240 seems to have the ability to grab a really amazing photos sometimes that I feel most cameras couldn't, but you have to work for it.

All in all the extra effort is worth the reward. Theres no doubt I would I like to add the M240 to my line up. We shall see what the future holds. Stay tuned for more M240 content coming soon, where I test it out shooting my night style.
